Two hours drive north of Perth, the turn off to Cervantes takes you back to the coast and some of the best smooth water windsurfing available anywhere. This crayfishing town is situated on the southern edge of Ronsard Bay. A Thirsty Point the local sea breeze accelerates as it is funnelled into the Bay. The contest site at Thirsty Point is popular with everyone from the novices to the pros. The shallow sandy bay at the point is protected by a long sand bar which gives smooth water on the inside as the wind rips over the beach. Jurien Bay lies a little further north and is a well known as a reference point for the regional weather information.
