Geraldton has long been known as the "Windy City" of Western Australia, with its sizzling desert landscape turbo charging the daily sea breeze. It is so reliable that most days, you are guaranteed an awesome sail. Geraldton's many and varied beaches provide excellent conditions for the whole gambit of sailing activities. Areas range from huge expanses of flat water for slalom sailing inside the reefs, to smooth rolling waves with forgiving falls and an absence of shore-breaks for the intermediate sailor.

When the swell cranks in there are some big waves available for the serious port tack wave hunters. The best spots to sail are Point Moore, where the lighthouse is, and Coronation Beach, which is about 25 kms north of the town towards Carnarvon and Sunset Beach - right on the doorstep of Suncity Caravan Park. Another top location is St Georges Beach right in the heart of Geraldton, probably the most popular flatwater windsurfing beach for locals and international visitors.
