After much R&D, the new Lion is ready. The biggest improvement with the new Lion is its speed. The vinyl window is replaced by low-stretch, dyneema-enforced, multi-layer film that greatly improves the energy transfer from gust of wind to board speed. The sail moves much less when hit by a gust—you simply go faster. To improve the top speed, the new Lion is designed to ride with more downhaul in stronger wind. At the same time, the Lion's famous low-end grunt is still there at the minimum downhaul settings. I personally love blasting around on the twin cam Lion. The Lion is for sailors who want an extra edge of performance and can handle the full-profile power and dynamic rotation that cams provide. The cams give the Lion an extra stability and board drive, which not only means that you go faster but you also cut through chop easier and can pressure the board rail better for jibing. Unlike the wide-sleeve Freerace sail on the market, the Lion has a narrow sleeve that makes waterstarting and uphauling easier. The new Lion is lighter. The clew reinforcements have been redesigned for both strength and weight reduction. The new window is also significantly lighter than the vinyl. The Lion can also be used as single-cam freerider, or the cams can be removed completely so that the Lion's shape flattens out for foiling. The Lion comes with two RDM cams installed to fit the Ezzy masts (and any other RDM mast). Additional cams to fit all SDM masts can be purchased separately and are listed on the price sheet.
